Baylor Scott & White Medical Center - Sunnyvale is seeking a Mammo Techno to perform diagnostic mammographic procedures and is responsible for patient safety protocols. Functions as the first line interface with patients in the successful accomplishment of their mammogram. Participates in CQI activities. Clients served are predominately adults and geriatrics.
What your day will look like:
- Responsible for the care and safety of patients undergoing treatment and use of equipment to minimize hazards of electric shock, burns and extraneous radiation to patients.
- Able to assess patient pain interfering with imaging procedure - makes appropriate physician contact for intervention.
- Performs all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety and reduces the likelihood of medical/health care errors.
- Responsible for the safe handling of equipment and film.
- Positions and shields patients accordingly.
- Processes x-ray film, if a darkroom technician is not available.
- Practices medical and surgical asepsis.
- Keeps procedure room clean and neat, makes minor equipment adjustments as needed.
- Assists in maintaining basic records and reports.
- Assists in maintaining files.
- Interacts professionally with patient/family.
- Has knowledge of facility policies and the functions of other departments.
- Is acquainted with local fire and safety regulations.
- Compiles and maintains quality assurance information for mammography in accordance with ACR, State of Texas Department of Health Standards, the FDA and the Department of Health and Human Services.
- Provides care appropriate to condition and age of the patient.
Success Factors:
- High school graduate; BS degree preferred.
- Graduation from an AMA approved school of Radiologic Technology: either college affiliated or hospital trained.
- Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in radiography and certified in mammography.
- Certified in the State of Texas to practice and administer radiation.
- One-year mammography experience preferred.
- Current BLS certification
- Thorough understanding of breast anatomy, positioning.
- Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
- Additional languages preferred.
- Basic computer knowledge
- Ability to operates mammography equipment and stereotactic localization devices.
